If you simply upload a brand new site with no incoming links it will take a while for Search engines to find it.
You will need to submit the URL to Google to get it indexed faster. You will know when search engines are finding your pages as your hosting cpanel/stats will tell you that Bots have been on your pages.
Once your site is more established and has incoming links the bots will visit alot more often and crawl all around the site on a daily basis.
