I know the guy who bought it, he was pleased with his purchase. He was on a spending spree and bought various other domains with high ticket prices.

A very nice guy. One thing always made me laugh, he is afraid of flying.
He lives in Canada and attends a lot of the trade shows in America.
He rents a car from the likes of Avis or whoever and always makes sure to go for the unlimited mileage option. When he returns the car after say 7 days the car has clocked up several thousand miles. When the staff check the car back in and see the mileage their eyes pop out of their head in disbelief.

I tend to use google for almost everything now, fdar more than I did even a couple of years ago.

Even when I've got things on shortcuts it's often easier to just start typing in google and with predictive searching, it's there within a couple of key strokes.

Are there any results or stats that have been published that show a decline in user type ins, and an increase in website type ins on Google?

From memory Ratboy picked it up as a dissolved reg and sold it to our friends on the south coast for GBP 6,000 who then did a bit of optimisation and sold it to the buyer in north america for GBP 40,000. He put it up for sale last year at the price he paid for it, but I don' think it sold. Haven't looked at the whois - is he still the owner?

Lyrics.com has been developed successfully, with lyrics, music videos and a forum etc, albeit infringing the copyright of all the songwriters and artists on the site i should think! However most of the music videos on Youtube infringe copyright too, but no one seems to care enough to do anything about it, so it seems lyrics.com has taken advantage of that leniency ! I have heard (at a Musicians Union seminar) that the giving away of free music recordings(through free downloads of MP3s etc) is often seen as a necessary and legitimate marketing ploy in a floundering music business, so I shouldn't expect any legal action due the unauthorised publishing of lyrics on the internet. Has anyone else heard about such a case?

Personally, being pretty irresponsible myself I would take the chance and make a massive lyrics database, also maybe guitar tabs etc. If the site became successful enough to attract lots of lawsuits there is a strong negotiating position for striking deals with copyright owners.
