That's a great example of how money can be mad on .eu's and they also carry small value if you have a full set of one name but the world is use to .com and for me they always will be.

I bought my own name and the rest of the family's in .eu. We all like the idea of being THE person with our name in Europe, and they will make nice email addresses.

I don't see why .eu names shouldn't appreciate with time, although I think that sounding like 'eeew' might cause a subconscious block - it's something I hear kids say a lot nowadays when they find something disgusting.

Same thing happened to me, I bought a domain mainly for use as an Email address where the domain was the surname of the person as a gift - however they weren't interested at all, so I just thought I'd let it expire. A few weeks later a DR from Germany asked me if I would sell as it's their surname and they have the .de - managed to get £300 for it! Pure coincidence - but covered the cost of the other domains I bought and have now expired due to lack of interest!

Thumbs down EU's sold

I was lucky enough to sell 7 of the 30.eu's I bought for £450 which I thought was great at the time ...but considering I only renewed 6 of the remaining 23 means I really only £90 up and the 6 eus I have left make next to no money so after renewal fees next year I'll back to square one!

I think .eu is better than .asia though as most of us recognise ourselves as European (by race) and we have an Economic Area, whereas ASIA is not an economic area with a common currency and the idea that Indains and Japanese consider themsleves as both Asian is a joke; they dont.

Interesting point, as a fair number of domainers are using .EU as a shining light for why they are 'investing' in .ASIA.

See more of this type of thing with .whatever fasttrack opens up...

I've got a few - some for the company, others for myself.

We were using the .eu version of our brand name for a while, as we hadn't been able to acquire the .com, but as soon as we got the .com we switched over to it

The main problem seems to be that a lot of people are simply pointing their .eu domains at their main site, so I haven't seen that many .eu branded sites out there.

Maybe that will change over time
