Fair points, & I think you're right, you'd need to install 100 versions of wordpress.
However, I think that maybe I'm coming at this from a different perspective.
If I create an affiliate site I want something that I can put up quickly, can put a lot of products on, can amend/add/change products quickly & easily, and that doesn't take a lot of time to make those changes.
With wordpress I can wipe the entire list of affiliate products and upload a few thousand more in a couple of hours. I just couldn't get that from a static site.
For me it's all about time - I'd rather be able to put the site up & add the products in an hour or so, rather than spend days on it.
I use an unlimited hosting package that costs around £250 per year, so number of sites isn't a problem.
I also have static sites where theres a small number of pages, wordpress would be overkill for those.
