Hi Nick,

What are you offering here? Just negotiation, or getting leads too i.e. contacting loads of people/ companies who may be interested?

Can you supply any credentials - details of previous deals you have secured etc.? In short, what have you got to offer that the seller couldn't do himself?

Also one thing I have wondered about brokers is how do you resolve the following dilemma? Someone who is selling a domain approaches various parties who might be interested in it, and then hears about you. So they ask you to also try and sell it on the basis that you might be able to sell it for more than the other potential buyers are offering, but if not there's nothing to lose as you only get commission if you organise a sale. It seems like an offer that can only benefit the seller. But what happens if both you and the seller contact the same potential buyer independently and he agrees to buy? The seller would be reluctant to pay commission as he would believe that he organised the deal. But from your perspective the seller might look as though he's double-crossed you - stolen the lead you lined up and not paid your commission.

Now I know something like this would probably not happen regularly, but the aftermarket domain industry is quite a small world and it is bound to crop up now and then.

Thanks,

Jason
