i hate adsense personally but it doent fit into my niche. It is giving the value of clicks to someone who can better monetise them and i prefer to try to be the oine who can better monetise them and cut out the middleman.

That said, obv high traffic niches will be best for adsense. Tattoos, movie reviews, restaurants, dating, travel etc etc i would ASSUME to be the best sites to go for. Use wordtracker and research to find under marketed niches with high traffic would be my advice.

Worrying about where to place the ads etc is putting the cart before the horse. Once you have the traffic the very best way to monetise it fully is by trying lots of different tactics with the adsense, using it in context, colour themed etc.

If you have the time, google optimizer is a good tool for this but takes a while to learn and to test pages. You can create a number of different versions of a page and test for effectiveness and conversion.

I havnt succeeded with adsense but i hardly use it either.
