95% of domains have no real value. Most good ones are regged by vultures like us at Acorn in the hope that they will have a resale value or development potential. Domainers are killing the internet. I've lost count of how many times I have visited a site via direct type-in, only to find a parked page. It really annoys me to find parked pages, and I've been in this game for a long time. You can easily hand reg a half decent .co.uk for a fiver, and sell it on 2 days later for £50. Not many industries with that kind of margin.
P.S. Don't go for quantity. Quality is best. I used to own many hundreds of .coms, I think I have about 50 now. Kept the good ones and dropped the rubbish.
