So one frosty morning I was driving along the M40 into a traffic queue just outside High Wycombe - about 60mph, and on an elevated section. Must have been black ice ...

I just touched the brakes and the van did a pirouette, one and a half circles with me, eyes closed and foot on the brake. I thought I was going over the edge.

I opened my eyes, and found I was on the hard shoulder pointing the wrong way, and everyone had stopped - I was able to start off again, shaking like a leaf.

Looking at the rain on that road, I can understand how the car could have spun sideways and ended up in front of the lorry ...

You can't blame the lorry driver unless you know how it happened.
