The HMCE advised me that vat was NOT due on .eu domains when sold by eurid to companies outside the European Union ,and eurid follow that by not charging vat to such registrars based in USA etc. This seems in direct conflict with what Nominet are doing.

I've not seen a conclusion to the above mailing list post but given that Nominet still charge vat to everyone I would assume the result was that the service is supplied in the UK and is vatable.

Of course, you only charge vat if you're a vat registered business.
