![]() | UK Overture Results Can anyone kindly shed any light as to why the UK Overture results for several .co.uk traffic domains which I own are zero, when several months back they were returning results between 8 and 16. The domains concerned still get daily views and clicks with approx 500 views a month. I suspect therefore I am missing opportunities to register domains with traffic as the UK Overture is returning a zero value. Any thoughts, comments or alternative suggestions ? Thanks John P. |

![]() | Overture is just one method of determining traffic. If the results are returning 0 invariably that will mean that no-one is directly typing yourdomain.com into Yahoo or another overture search engine. Its never been 100% reliable. |

| Banned | It's not to say the traffic isn't coming from google or old inbound links |

![]() | What is considered a good figure for an Overture (UK) result? I've often read that 10,000+ is ok for the US result, but was wondering what people here think is a suitable UK threshold figure. Also, over what time period are Overture results based? 1 month, 1 year?? |

| Administrator | It updates monthly. IMO anything in double figures (with extension) is worth a punt, but don't take OV results in isolation. I regged a 1,000+ OV that had zero traffic...

![]() | What about a figure without extention, and would they be worth a punt on the basis of site development with Adsence or similar? |

| Administrator | without extension I go for 15,000 plus and then look at other factors.

![]() | Without extension there are alot of other factors to look at. Competetiveness of that search phrase is one. I've just registered a domain with a 75000 UK OV score, but the sites i'll be competing with are very, very well established! They key is to find one with decent OV and little competetion (easier said than done!) That said i also registered one with OV of 8000, the search phrase is much less competetive so will be easier to obtain rankings for. |

![]() | So there's no point going for a domain (suspended) like none(.co.uk) when it returns 8.08 million hits on Google UK alone, but obviously no Google sponsored links, as it is clearly a meaningless word. Whereas a phrase (still available, i can see it at the moment) of "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is, according to Overture (uk) searched for 1,100 times (per month??) in the UK, but has only 6 web site links, outnumbered by 7 Google sponsored links. Is this the right approach, or am i still off the mark? |

![]() | Well its not just how many search results that Google shows for a particular phrase. It can be used as an idication of the competetiveness of a particular keyword, but like Overture, its a rough guide. A better indication is the number of incoming links the competitors websites have. But there are numerous other factors that you could take in to account, it depends how much you want to research. If you are not looking to develop the domain yourself, perhaps the competetiveness of a phrase or keyword is'nt too much of a concern. |
