http://www.myolddutch.com/restaurants3.asp

There will be nibbles and things first, and then the food will be served in batches depending on when people arrive.

Basically, they offer large, tasty savoury (and sweet) Dutch-style "pancakes" with a wide range of fillings. They're cooked to order so basically you can pick anything off their menu.

It's anticipated the cost will be about 10 pounds a head plus whatever drinks end up costing - a couple of sponsors will be pitching in to cover the difference on the cost of the food.

The booking is for 30-50 people, but it would be good to get an idea of numbers as quickly as possible so that I can give them a more definitive idea. If we can get together a full 50 people, we can have a private floor to ourselves - if not, we'll have to share the area but we'll at least have a private section.

I am guessing the event will probably run until 9-ish there (depending on how many turn up and when) and then after that those who want to can decamp to somewhere like Covent Garden or further towards Holborn, both of which have a bunch of pubs and are only 5-10 minutes walk away...

Please post below if you can definitely come (and numbers if you're bringing anyone else!)
This looks very worthwhile, and I would have liked to have come along, but I've been away and I missed this post. Any last minute travel arrangements by UK public transport always cost an absolute fortune! I was in Geneva and the French Alps last week and it couldn't be more different - went to CERN (where the web was 'invented' by Tim Berners-Lee) to see the Large Hadron Collider. Stunning.

Have a good meeting.

welshy is on a distinguished road

Hi all, I just signed up as member today.

I Just picked up this thread from Dnjournal so its a bit short notice for me, look forward to networking with some UK Domainers in the future though.

If anyone is organising a similar event a bit closer to home I would appreciate a quick message, I live in West Wales so Cardiff would be a cool venue, I am often in Cardiff for the weekends visiting friends and family so its ideal. Keep me up to date.

I'm a bit shellshocked after the first day of exhibiting at Internet World, but there are "several" more people coming - I kind of lost track of who said they would vs who said "I would, but..." but I think it was about 3 or 4 more above and beyond the list so far.

Hi Edwin,

So how was the first day at Internet World?
I hope it went really well for you.
How was the general reception of visitors to your stand?
Do they get it..........or were you treated like an alien from another planet?

I hope its not because of the ladies on the opposite stand Edwin

It was good to see you today. Good luck with the show tomorrow and stay away from that white label dating stand.

Pretty good. No alien looks - a few "how much?" when people enquired about prices, but generally a really positive response. I had some very good talks with people from Nominet as well, and with a whole lot of domainers (you guys know who you are!) into the bargain.

It's also interesting just how many people "got" what I did even before they came up to talk, and wanted to talk about specific names or niches rather that just start the whole "generic domain ABC" discussion.

All in, a very interesting first day. Apparently the middle day will be busier - and there's the Acorn do in the evening - so I'll be fit to be buried by this time tomorrow evening. Oh well...

Thumbs up Acorn Meet "30th April 2008"

Hi Guys,

I'm meeting a couple of people at the Nominet AGM at 9:30. I then plan to popin to Internet World about 12 noon, followed by the UKDNA at 2pm til 5pm - If my eyes are still open I would love to meet some of the Acorn members.

Count me in for now....

Regards,

Barry
