A question from buy.at

Hi All,

This is my first post as I've only been pointed to this forum as of yesterday but there are defo some familiar people here that I know from other forums.

The reason for the post is simple really; buy.at is an affiliate marketing network working on a CPA basis.

We are currently finishing a project which will do the following:

• Take unused/parked domain names.
• Populate the sites with multiple monetized pages.
• You would get paid a fair CPA rate for this also.
• And basically create a web site for you with multiple pages completely monetized with our advertiser’s deals.

Now this will do a great deal more as I am really just scratching the surface now as some of the functionality that this product will provide to you is a bit sensitive (for now). The user experience will be far better and more valuable to them than a simple PPC grocery list type feed going into it (not taking a dig at any one else’s products or PPC companies)

But my question is, if we were to provide a service that allowed you to monetize your unused domain names with out you lifting a finger and have it completely branded and functioning as a properly developed site would you be interested?

Is this something that you would consider a benefit and would you be interested in having a further conversation with me about this? If it is, what would you want it to do? I realize this is the million dollar question but… how much traffic is there out their in parked/unused domains?

Thanks for your time and I’d appreciate any comments.

Cheers
Tyson

A great idea - where do I sign??

I suppose the success of something like this depends on two things (off the top of my head):

a) Having lots of differenty products (and services) in lots of different areas. There's a lot of different domains out there - from loans to sports supplements to garden furniture to womens clothing. You'd need to have a broad range of merchants and products in order to try and appeal to everyone's domain portfolios.

b) Good payouts. Parking is "ok" but if you get paid out a % of the customer's purchase then this will generally be better than what you can earn parking.

Please keep us updated

This sounds interesting and as an affiliate network you are in a great position to offer something different from the parking companies. It certainly will be interesting to see if CPA is a better earner than CPC, personally I think it will depend on how targetted the domains traffic is.

The simpler the better for me, what I'd like to do is just set the nameservers on my domain to buy.at nameservers and you take care of everything.

Money licky licky lets get fitty

hi ty...

welcome and yes!

glad to see a worthy contender with a good idea... we have been banging on about this form of monitizing for years... it is the best way to earn real monies (fonejacker stylie word!) for doing nothing... apart from paying for the DN!

the only problem, as in with most "parked pages / mini site" services / scripts blah blah is.. the split or %...

as you are aware the most profit from an affiliate page is design, set, add and upload... 100% of whoever you want or feel you want on your pages profit goes to the DN owner...

if you are going to launch your engine script to do it for us... what will the split / % be and why would or should we take less to use buy.at (apart from the fact you have the 4th best customer service / sexy ladies) in the A arena!

and yes there is $XXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXX.XXXXX to be made from unused / old traffic domains... an aged DN is the best... regardless of what some dreamers say or do....

thoughts ?

Sounds good depending on the commission. I already use buy.at and you pay promptly which is always good!

Yep would be a good idea, I'd def. move a couple thousand names over to try it out.

Just offer nameservers , url redirection and a contact us / buy this domain link so we can still flog a few names

How would the stats work? A seperate domain parking stats system or would we be using the standard buy.at interface?

And as aquanuke suggests we would need a contact us link so we can still have offers coming in.

Yes - like many others I have a fair bit of traffic that I would like to monetise. Is this something that is available now or are you speaking hypothetically?

Cheers
Stephen.

Question 1

Having lots of different products (and services) in lots of different areas. There's a lot of different domains out there - from loans to sports supplements to garden furniture to women’s clothing. You'd need to have a broad range of merchants and products in order to try and appeal to everyone's domain portfolios.

Answer 1

It will.

Question 2

Is this something that is available now or are you speaking hypothetically

Answer 2

It is almost finished development and will be ready in aprox 1 months time. We have agreement from some of Acorns members to test this with us.

Question 3

How would the stats work? A separate domain parking stats system or would we be using the standard buy.at interface?

Answer 3

We’ll be looking at adapting the interface to have a separate display for this.

Question 4

Just offer nameservers , url redirection and a contact us / buy this domain link so we can still flog a few names

Answer 4

data capture and increasing the over all value of your domain is part of the spec.

Question 5

if you are going to launch your engine script to do it for us... what will the split / % be and why would or should we take less to use buy.at (apart from the fact you have the 4th best customer service / sexy ladies) in the A arena!

Answer 5

Basically we’ll have built you a site on and you’ll have done nothing but submit us your domains. So we’ll need to look at this and make sure its fair for you and a great option to use. Not going to be unfair to you guys what so ever.

Question 6

what I'd like to do is just set the nameservers on my domain to buy.at nameservers and you take care of everything.

Answer 6

You will as that’s the plan! And hope that explains my answer above.

Thanks again for all of your feed back so far. It's really encouraging to read.

Cheers
Tyson
