![]() | Partnership on any of 250 UK domains
OK so I have to stop collecting projects until I start converting some of them. I forget the name of the show but there was this series on the telly where a girl put her two fingers together and time would stop... I really wish that I had that power. I'd be able to work for a year developing the pile of domains I've collected into websites. Well I can't stop time but am hoping that others with more time or who can throw projects together quickly might be interested in teaming up. I've not thought this proposal through fully but here goes: I have about 250 reasonable UK domains on my pile. Some of them are already developed, most aren't. Most have areas that a nice little site could be built around. If anyone can see the potential in any of these domains and has the time or efficient work skills to develop 1 or more of these domains into a site please PM me. I'm thinking something like you develop the site, I help where needed or able. If my involvement is minimal you can earn 80% of the income for 18 months. After 18 months, depending on how things are going the 80:20 split may be renegotiated depending on how things are going. Also during the 18 months there would need to be a stipulation that the site is earning over a dollar a day or something nominal. Am interested to hear from people who may be able to get involved as well as feedback from people about this business model. (Have you worked in this way with partners before? Was it successful? What do you think of the revenue split and timeframs?)

Assuming you're not requiring (financial) investment from the person who develops the site (i.e. not buying 20% of the site from you), the idea is most definitely sound. I'd expect that you need to have a contract to put an agreement in writing. Additionally, how are costs for promotional work/graphics/other costs covered? I'd personally be interested in theory, but sadly my RSI limits my computer time. I can barely run my own sites! Dan

Definitely not expecting any financial investment from any partner, and ideally no financial investment from me would be needed. Just need someone talented that's able to invest time to get sites up that can make some income and get ranked, indexed and receive traffic. Quote:
This is how they'd earn the 80% for 18 months and some arrangement after depending on circumstances. I guess anyone interested has the option of doing a project by themselves and earning 100% for 18 months and beyond so the main reason to partner from your (or anyone reading this) point of view, would be if any of my domains seem easy to develop (maybe even throwing an affiliate site up and adding some unique content and adsense) - plus I can also provide limited help and resources...

RSI = repetitive strain injury (i.e. my arms and back hurt when using the PC for too long). I think your offer and terms are particularly attractive... as the partner doesn't have to worry about initial investment, but still gets to use a decent domain. Dan

I should have known RSI. I've been looking at posture devices recently - some of them are really funny with straps and all sorts. This one's a bit more descrete. Well if you have any ideas Dan about a particular domain then let me know.

I had a quick look at the list, and had an idea for one of them straight away... and it lends itself to a UK market and to automation, so a great start. Maybe we should exchange email addresses? Dan

Dan- just sent you a PM. If anyone else wants to get involved it would be great to have a few projects moving forward.

I think you'd get a better response if you clarified what kind of project you'd like to work on or a domain / domains you'd like to see used. Also if you're not seeking financial investment, what type of investment are you seeking? Programming, design, ideas, hosting etc... Also 80:20 seems like you're giving up a lot, partially if your the domain owner and the financial investor. But I suppose this would entirely depend on the project. I'm just writing some thoughts about your post but in principle you're on the right tracks, the best projects are ones with small but effective teams working behind the scenes. I'll drop you a PM. Cheers Dave |

I have plenty of ideas, and a small amount of time for development. So I offered Matt some ideas, and I'd be looking to develop a domain or two into a site. If you want to discuss ideas on your projects Dave, or you might be interested in a joint venture, just let me know. I've requested to follow you on Twitter to get an idea of what sort of things you work on. Dan
