a situation involving 300K GBP...

let's say a domain is offered to you for £300k, but actually the domain already has an offer from an end-user which is £60k more, but since owner won't get paid until at least end of the year or in 12 months, he's willing someone to get a big chunk of the money by selling early. If money is not a problem, would you take it? Why and why not?

facts from owner:

1. domain contains name of company Y.

question: what if buyer files a URDP case?
answer: it's a big company, they could have contemplated about it before they made the offer. which leads to no. 2...

2. owner was flown to a place to meet the buyer and during the brief meeting, was given the offer (owner has plane tickets as proof)...

3. domain is to be used on a huge project involving millions of dollars; a master plan is expected to be finished end of this year as required by the local authority.

If the owner has already agreed a price with someone else, then for no other reason, I'd say 'no'.

Nope sound doggy to me, unless is a super generic ie loan or money, even if it's not a con like you said the company can always go to court with ya and 95% of the time they win.

it's a no no we are not taking a couple of quids here.

Sounds like a right scam.

If the owner wants the money now they could get that from the company by offering a discount.

Anyway it doesn't make any sense that the company wouldn't just snap up the name or at least pay a deposit and provide a contract.

Also doesn't make sense that the seller would want to miss out on 60k for the sake of one year. Interest rates are low at the moment!

Anyone whos risks £300k on such a dodgy proposition needs their head looking at! Plane tickets as proof lol, proof of what? that he's been on holiday, it's certainly not proof of a legally binding offer and even if it was the offer was made to the current owner.

There are so many reasons why this is such a bad idea, I can't actually believe someone is really considering getting involved.

must be a different one. Oh is he Australian ?
