the reality of the .org.uk market

I'm unsure if the following would be seen as contentious or not but, given the overwhelming number of sales threads for .org.uks, I'm going to ask this one

I often wonder how many people on Acorn realise if you can't sell a .org.uk here at Acorn you can't sell it anywhere - full stop. It dosen't matter how much you want for your .org.uk or how much interest there is - from a sales perspective it ends here.

Not sure that is true. I have sold plenty outside of Acorn, including to end users (i.e. not just to other domainers / seo companies).

If you can't sell them here, you could probably sell them on an affiliate marketing forum, like Affiliates4u, as some affiliates just look for domains that can rank well in UK search engines. And also, not every UK domainer that has an interest in .org.uk domains is a member of this forum.

From a business standpoint no commercial entity would be seen dead 'wearing one' Which makes the reality of trying to sell a .org.uk on it's commercial appeal pretty mute outside of this board and the seo contingent

.org.uks may be financially viable for small companies who want to rank well for a certain keyword but can't afford the .co.uk; I've seen a few of them using .org.uk as their main web address. I agree maybe not for larger, multinationals but then again, I don't see what harm it could do if a .org.uk can bring traffic and customers to a business.

Agree to an extent although there will always be exceptions, including for .org.uk domains appropriate for charities or campaigns. However, who knows what could happen in a few years and they may become more mainstream?

I'm going to seem pedantic here but just picking up on Brassnecks "I'm not sure thats true" and your "I've seen a few" tells me that you agree with my general statement

Completely disagree with that statement. Take a look at DomainPrices.co.uk, you'll see plenty of .org.uk domains being sold on Sedo and other sites.

And the reality check comes from filtering the org.uks out of that entire recorded history barely 3 pages out of 152. I wont pull it apart further to see just how many were sold/listed here or due to pure SEO

There were more Sedo sales than Acorn sales. And even though there only 3 pages of .org.uk sales on that site, it still disproves your statement.

I can see you're adamant to prove your statement to be true.
