| » Domain Parking | Domain parking is where you set a domain name to resolve to a web page containing advertising listings and links.
This allows the domain owner to monetise un-developed domain names from the type-in, back-linked and search engine traffic visiting the domain.
The links displayed on the domains webpage will be targeted to the predicted interests of the visitor and may change dynamically based on the results that visitors click on. The domain owner is usually paid based on how many links have been visited, this is called Pay Per Click, and on how beneficial those visits have been.
The keywords for any given domain name provide clues as to the intent of the visitor before arriving. Some keywords carry a much higher Cost Per Click than others, Games for example pay pay €0.02 per visitor click where as a finance keywords such as loans, could be €1.50 per click.
Domainers typically seek out domain names that have expired that were formerly websites as this increases the chances of people visiting the domain.
A domain that was used as a website and is allowed to expire will still maintain most of its prior inbound links. These types of domains usually attract their largest amount of visitor traffic initially after being claimed from the domain drop lists. As website operators and search engines begin to remove the former inbound links, the traffic to the parked domain will begin to decline.
There are several companies that actively cater to domain name owners and act as middlemen to serve advertisements on parking pages. Two of the largest are Sedo and Namedrive for the UK market. These are known as "Parking Companies".
To benefit from using their services, go to their homepages and create an account. Then from your hosting companies control panel, either forward your domain to the parking page or change your name servers.
The parking companies also offer you the option to display a "domain for sale" link from each of your parking pages, increasing the chance of ytou selling the domain should someone be interested.
The parking companies offer you a control panel to view and manage your portfolio. Take care to monitor your traffic and keywords. Change keywords if the existing one has a low click-through-rate.
With millions of domain names now parked, the trend is moving towards development of mini-sites, allowing the domain owner to still receive click through income but maintaining a real website that will keep its search engine rankings far better than a parked page.

1. Create a Sedo account here
2. Add your domain(s) to your account
3. Redirect your domain traffic to Sedo

Assuming your domain is hosted by your registrar (123-reg, Heart Internet, GoDaddy, eNom, etc.) or another hosting provider, simply log in to your registrar account and forward your domain traffic using one of the two following methods:
Method 1: Name Server Forwarding (also known as DNS servers) - Primary Server Name: NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM
- Primary Server Name: NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM
or
Method 2: URL Forwarding
Forward your domain's URL to the following: www.sedoparking.com/DOMAIN.COM

Setting a Domain Name with DomainSponsor parking
Traffic can be pointed to the DomainSponsor service using DNS redirection. Create a DS account here
To use DNS redirection, follow these steps:
First Step: Add domains to your DomainSponsor admin panel
Next step: DNS change at your registrar admin panel
Point your domains to these name servers at your registrar.
Primary Name Server: NS1.DSREDIRECTION.COM
Primary IP Address: 204.13.160.15
Secondary Name Server: NS2.DSREDIRECTION.COM
Secondary IP Address: 204.13.161.15
Once your domain is parked, you may modify the design template of the landing page and optimise your keywords.
Check it regularly for the first few weeks to see what works best.
