What Type of MySQL Download for CMS?

We've bought a CMS package and are trying to install for the first time.

Can anyone tell me what type of MySql database needs to be downloaded for Microsoft Windows - eg is it MySql Community Server?

If so, do I need the Zip archive or the MSI Installer?

The community server edition will be fine. If you aren't that familiar with MySQL I would recommend the MSI installer which will walk you through installing it.

Doesn't your hosting company come with MySQL preinstalled?

If you're self hosted and building the server to support MySQL, then yes the community server using the msi installer is best. Make sure that the webserver e.g apache is installed first. If PHP is used then install this first as well.

You don't sound like a techie, so I'd get a host that has WAMP - Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP pre installed.
