Does anyone make good money from Adsense?

Hello,
I keep seeing people on forums etc claiming to be earning $300 per day from adsense (& these aren't people selling "how to make $300 a day from adsense" products either), but is it possible to make really good money from it?

Does anyone here do really well from adsense?

If so what's the secret?

Thx

Traffic!

That's all it can be, the more people visiting your site/forum, the more clicks you are going to get as a result. I expect those earning most have large forums with tens of thousands of members returning every day. There is a dating site called plentyoffish, I heard it said that they used to or still do make about $10,000 a week, or was it a month, from Adsense throughout their site.

I referred sports nutrition company to AdBrite (didn't have a single other competitor for their new line), and I was making $50-75 a day from referrals alone for a month that they ran the adverts. It was insane how much money they spent on PPC.

AdBrite - The Internet's Ad Marketplace

I've had a few affiliate sign ups from domains and websites I've sold so I actually make more on their affiliates than I do from adverts

If I had 3-4 of them I'd turn a few grand a week easy, maybe these people have affiliates on there too ?

Definitely traffic and also niche. I think that plentyoffish alledged they were making $10k a day on adsense 3 years ago. Whether it was true then, or is still true now I've got no idea. Dating is certainly a good niche and given the site gets millions of uniques a month they've got both sides of the equation.

I am always surprised at this kind of question. Of course there are SOME people who do extremely well with Adsense or other ways of monetizing a site - all you need is some decent amount of traffic.

Getting over the "is it possible" hurdle is the first step towards succeeding yourself. It's definitely categorically 100% possible, so what you really should be trying to answer is "how can I succeed??"

That's why I asked "whats the secret?"

I had already assumed volume of traffic & to an extent the niche must be involved, but there must be some other techniques, like types of ads, where they are placed, how much content you provide on a page, etc.

Some niches must be better suited to it than others too?

i hate adsense personally but it doent fit into my niche. It is giving the value of clicks to someone who can better monetise them and i prefer to try to be the oine who can better monetise them and cut out the middleman.

That said, obv high traffic niches will be best for adsense. Tattoos, movie reviews, restaurants, dating, travel etc etc i would ASSUME to be the best sites to go for. Use wordtracker and research to find under marketed niches with high traffic would be my advice.

Worrying about where to place the ads etc is putting the cart before the horse. Once you have the traffic the very best way to monetise it fully is by trying lots of different tactics with the adsense, using it in context, colour themed etc.

If you have the time, google optimizer is a good tool for this but takes a while to learn and to test pages. You can create a number of different versions of a page and test for effectiveness and conversion.

I havnt succeeded with adsense but i hardly use it either.

Spot on. Different sites with different audiences may optimise in very different ways. Once you have the traffic, you then also have the luxury of being able to test new ad configurations, styles and layouts very quickly, and get feedback within hours or days.
