Domain susspended before renewal date

I don't think anyone knows 100% yet waht is happening.

100% nothing dropping till around the 18th of June if it has a tag, no one knows for sure if they all drop on 1 day, split up or random.

The early cancels will drop as scheduled, as they are not affected by noms current problems.

Easly cancel is dealt with the same as Renewel Not Required tag, no warnings are sent thus it will drop as planned

OK, I have come across a co.uk site that I REALLY want. WhoIs states...

Relevant dates:
Registered on: 25-Aug-1999
Renewal date: 25-Aug-2009
Last updated: 22-Dec-2008

Registration status:
Registered until renewal date.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***

Owner is a very large company. I can see that they own a magazine with website of magazine's name, which has not been suspended. Not sure but would guess they own a number of other divisions.

Any clue as to why the one site is suspended? How do I find out more info? I know there are companies that catch dropped .com sites - how do I try my best to catch this one? Will the drop be the usual length of time after the actual renewal time, which is next August? This domain will be in big demand if it drops!

OTTOMH (Off the top of my head), the 2 most common ways that a name becomes suspended before renewal:

1. Someone complains to Nominet there is a problem with contact info/status of owner etc., they notify owner, put domain on 30 days suspension and then cancel it if not resolved.
2. Company might be in administration (or similar).

If the latter is true, then dont bother worrying about the former. You wont get it.

Thanks, but strangely it appears to be neither of those. website was well known and well respected, company does not appear to be in administration. Certainly their other site is still going, as is their published magazine in this sector.

Stereo .co.uk is suspended before renewal but if you lookup the company number for romers hi fi who are on the whois the company that comes up is ukip. both romers and ukip are preston based are these 2 linked and if so i couldnt see ukip letting that drop?

^ UKIP are a dissolved company. Nominet have been sharper in the past 12 months or so picking up on dissolved companies, and like a number of others, it has been suspended.
