Info about .uk revoked domains?

I have registered a domain which I believe was revoked.

The site was not accessible on the 18th January, and noted to be available to register on the 19th. It was originally set to expire some time in 2011 it is believed (as the registration period for a .uk is 2 years).

The site had logos bearing accreditation that the company did not have title to. The one most likely to have brought it down was an Information Commissioner's Office logo. They were informed and asked the site owner to take down the logo but it was left on. Is it feasible the site was revoked by Nominet due to this?

Also, if the original owner had the site revoked, would they have any standing in using the Nominet Dispute Resolution Service?

If a domain was revoked, what would stop the original owner re-registering it?

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure that I agree with names being revoked without so kind of process being in place. That said, maybe you should've removed the logo??

By the sounds of it the company who owned it previously went bust, if that's the case then the domain will have been suspended and dropped at random by Nominet, not revoked.

I doubt they would just revoke it without any form of communication. At the very least you would get an email from them and more than likely they would suspend the name first, not just drop it immediately.

Why not give them a call, find out what happened?

I tend to agree as its not excactly a great domain name unless your in the same business or the previous owner..? How do you know what was asked e.g to take down logo and that the company did not do it, What do you mean by "what would stop the original owner re-registering it?" as you have.. how could they ? Just what made you register it ?
