One other place worth considering especially if the name is booked at all/most public catchers is list it at domainlore with a pre bid. The advantage of this is many private catchers that don't usually offer to catch for others will add it to their lists (myself included) knowing they have a quick sale. The downside is alerting more people to the domain becoming available and the price will be the end price of an auction IF the person who catches it decides to sell. Not suitable for everyone but can be an option worth considering.

This has been an interesting read regarding the methods to try and get a "catch loaded" mostly due to the fact that I have never played the "domain dropping game" since about 2000/4 when it really did seem to be a make a wish list, finger on the button and hope scenario. Given virtually everyone is traceable with not too much work these days - I wonder why more don't follow Edwins route of trying to contact direct. Particularly if the domain has some popular appeal. As seems to be the case in this instance

I've definitely learnt a lot from it If a whois search currently says 'This registration has been SUSPENDED' isn't it too late to make direct contact? I assumed that at this stage the owner is unable to re-register the domain - are they still able to? I guess also that once someone knows of the interest they may want more for the domain than getting it when it has dropped. The domain I'm looking at isn't worth a huge amount to me anyway - but it has been good to learn more about the process for future reference also Thanks to all who have contributed!! |
