![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (0% / 0) | Advice needed - info/net/ org vs $25,000 .com Hello I've just received an offer for 3 of my domains. The buyer has just bought the .com few days ago for $25,000 It happens that I've got the .net, org & info I've received an offer for $15,000 for the three of them. I understand that .net or .org or even .info are not a .com. But do you think that I should ask for more based on the price of the .com ? Is it usual to have a big gap between the value of the .com & the other extension ? Thanks

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (0% / 0) | Thx for your speedy reply. I will follow your advice...although, I will try to push a little bit more towards the 20k. I will let you know how it goes. I am obviously talking about the lot, NOT 20k per domain. Thx again for your speedy advice

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (100% / 3) | WAY better than a fair offer. .nets are generally around 2-5% value of .com, .orgs about 3-6%, and .info 1% or lower. IMHO, don't push it, take it as is. Residual traffic doesn't usually flow well downstream (.com to .net), so that isn't too much of an issue. Last edited by jacal1; 13-05-2008 at 12:34 AM. |

But, do as much research as you can about the buyer before you agree to sell. They could be a multi-million dollar company with HUGE plans for these domains. They might not. Do your homework. |

Agreed... though my best question to myself in these situations is simply this... Do I have the time, resources, knowledge, marketshare or care to be able to turn these domains into more than the offer price? If the answer is yes, then I will pitch back a higher number as I can risk losing the offer. If I don't / wont and they were sitting there doing nothing then I would likely take the money and invest into a better project or a nice holiday. Some good advice in this thread... let us know what you decide to do and how it goes.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (100% / 10) | Why risk $15K for the sake of $20K? The potential extra gain is just $5K but the potential loss is $15K i.e. 3x as much! If you're going to risk $15K it ought to be for something really worthwhile, like $30K, $50K or whatever you feel brave enough to go for. But why risk losing so much cash over such a (relative to the original offer) tiny extra amount?

I think if worded/said correctly and politely, there is never any harm asking for more than what you actually want, that is after all a basis of successful price negotiation. They are likely to have pitched in with an offer of less than they are prepared to pay, so they will probably be expecting you to counter higher, just make sure you are respectful and business like and don't act as if you have them over a barrel. If they've bought the .com it's not likely that they'll lose interest in the others. Rgds

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Domain Trader Rating: (0% / 0) | Hello thx all for your advices. When I posted I was hoping that everybody shout...yeah push the price up. I had actually $25,000 in mind for the lot. All of your replies actually worried me a bit. I emailed our broker straight away asking to fight for $24,000 However thinking about your replies over night...I chicken out and email back to ask for $19,000 which has been accepted. When I initially posted, I was in the same thinking as "Accelerator"...if the buyer bought the .com for 25k, and he is now ready to buy the "suite"...then...well you know... Anyway, I got my money which I am quite please. I will always wonder what would have happened IF...but IF SHOULD MAY PERHAPS ain't worth nothing in our world Thx again.
