New Reg used to and may still be a business of Steve Jackson, and he has one of if not the best portfolio of .co.uk domains there is - car.co.uk, fashion.co.uk and money.co.uk are three off the top of my head. My guess is that doesn't sell names and that being a wealthy man, it would take a big figure to persuade him to part with it.

Yes I had heard elsewhere that it is not possible to get a realistic qoute for names in his portfolio. 50k seems a very 'full' price for an abbreviation of 'search engine optimisation'.

I wonder how many views it gets? For that price it would have to be high xx,xxx pcm.

Hard cash and lots of it it seems, or perhaps other names in exchange.

Smile

So it's a paradox.

The greater his personal wealth the less likely it is that he will ever realise the sale of a name in his portfolio. The wealthier he becomes the higher the price he will qoute and thereby diminish the prospect of a sale, effectively rendering the names 'unsellable'. Bizarre.

Gold is nice but you can't eat or drink it.

When you have enough to eat and drink there are few things better to admire!

...but you see my point.

The psychology of wealth is so interesting. It's corrosive of course.

I saw that programme about Nic Van Hoogstraten recently on the Beeb. He's a rich man by anyones measure and he apparently knows a lot of rich people. His observation was that they are all very unhappy and resort to snorting cocaine to relieve their sadness.

I think the way things are going, there are more and more people hoarding their domains.

I think this is a sign that everyone thinks they are undervalued.

If I really don't want to sell then I'll put in a stupid price.

Maybe that's what he's done.

Hoogstraten, well there's a nice fellow . . .

He's just got out of jail for the third? time.

If that's happy I think I'd rather snort cocaine!

i dont think STJ / newreg attachs silly prices to all of his / their domains. So you never know someone might actualy be buying this one.

people have enquired about some of his generic names and got price back which they said were "good end user prices, but not low enough to make enough on re-sell" and lets be honest most people would rather sell to the end user when they can

i do agree though he has one of the strongest portfolios about, which is what you get from being from the start.

/me takes my hat off to him...
