I think it suits org.uk really well.

    What do you think?

    Thanks,
    Dave

At the moment I am working on a drop catching system, domaining tools and a couple of other projects outside my full time job so for now nothing I'm afraid.

I don't really like these kind of names. Unless you are an expert in the field or are simply going to link to some high authority sites I personally wouldn't do anything with these kinds of names. I certainly wouldn't monetise with adsense or the like - wouldn't want to be publishing ads that give bad advice or false hope to sufferers or their families.

Oh no I wouldn't develop with the aim of monetisation I agree with you on that.

Does anyone feel it's wrong to sell domain names to charity? Is this the sort of name one would feel better donating, as that's just what I may do.

Charity is big business but registering them can leave a bad taste . Remeber there just as good at playing the PR, dirty tactics as any big business the odd tweet here and there saying "we’d like this name but so and so has it" through it in on news reports etc you’ll get nothing but grief some are able to ride this out and it neither affects them or there business others it will be a disaster . I personally don't think I'd go near them others though do hit this field each to his own I’d say?

Very often the well meaning charity gesture is not actually wanted by many most would rather have your money, It takes away from there core they’d rather people found that than other branches ?

It helps to have some ethics in domaining - first of all you'll sleep better. I agree stay away from anything may be 'construed' as profiteering from suffering or charitable causes that you really have no intention of adding something that may help understanding

Quite often your domain registrations will be linked in search engines, If the domain is not something you'd be proud to be associated from either a charitable or supportive point of view best not to allow the registration to be construed as anything else in the first place

In no way should any money be made from a domain like this, unless It's to be given to charity.

    Just my opinion.

    + 1 on this

I've noticed quite a few medical related drops (high exacts) that don't get picked up straight away as well as a good few FTR, I guess this means a lot of people must think this way.

    One being diabetessymptoms.org.uk (22,200 exacts)

My Mum is disabled through diabetes so if I was going to register one for personal reasons then this would be it. It did occur to me for a split second but I know I wouldn't be able to do it justice and have no wish to profit from it either.

I do agree with you all. Profiting would be a bad thing. My father had stomach cancer so perhaps for that reason I felt drawn to regging this domain name. I will look into donating it.

Perhaps it was wrong for me to ask for an appraisal but then again to me an appraisal doesn't only mean monetary but can also simply mean an assessment of a domain. I apologise if I have offended anyone in anyway. I'll think more carefully next time.

    Thank you all.

I remember you saying to me that you'd reg'd it and wanted to keep it so others couldn't exploit it.
I really don't think any particular charity would be interested in taking it themselves so maybe a mini site with links to the relevant charities?

Just my opinion in a sea of many.
