![]() | Flom.co.uk and Conc.co.uk
Hi, I recently snapped up some pronounceable 4L.co.uk domains. A lot of focus or interest at the moment seems to be on the whole short, catchy, memorable, brandable Web 2.0 type domains. I would appreciate an appraisal of a couple of these if that's ok. I know it can be difficult to appraise brandables as they are worth such different amounts to different people, but here they are: Conc.co.uk (reasonable search volume, popular shortening of the word "concentration" in chemistry etc.) Flom.co.uk (just sounds cool Thanks in advance! |

Without the .com gTLD its difficult to build a successful brand identity purely based on the ccTLD domain name. Any work on established the .co.uk identity will boost the .com value and drive traffic to the gTLD site. I have a few brandable .nets but build the .net into the branded identity so that the TLD becomes part of the name. This could be difficult with web 2.0 co.uk domains.

Sorry, but both of these domains are worthless unless you get the 'lottery ticket' effect, which isn't very likely at all. Neither means anything , and neither had attracted enough interesting in the last 15 years for anyone else to even spend reg fee on them, never mind buy them from a registrant. There's only two ways that either of these "brandable, Web 2.0" type domains will ever be worth anything: 1) You build a valuable service yourself that you decide to call Conc or Flom. 2) Some branding company somewhere decides to use one as as a brand without looking at whois details first, and they are so tied into the name as a brand that they decide to buy it from you. Given that pretty good meaningful, dictionary word brandable domains such as Renegades.co.uk are being sold elsewhere at auction for £30 I don't personally think you stand a chance of selling these at a profit. My advice to you would be to hold off buying domain names until you find something with real meaning or value, and invest a little more time into researching what you are buying and why. |
