Thumbs up Azam.com - should I sell it for this price? Advice please

I have been getting about three or four emails a month asking to buy the domain name. None of them have progressed to a serious bid, but I have now had an offer for £40,000/US $73,600 for azam.com. We've been negotiating for weeks and the guy is keen to press ahead with the paperwork.

It means a lot to me. I bought it about four years ago from a Canadian corporation after contacting them for years and offering them more and more money.

There is nothing much on the site at the moment, but I have had plans for years to set up a mini-portal on it. As well as my online businesses, I am a writer, having worked as a journalist for years, and would like to put my writing online and help push my brand so that I can get books published in the future.

I have been busy on other projects, but a super new site was due to go live in Quarter 3 this year.

It has emotional value for me as it is my surname, but I could use nazam.com instead, which is based on my first initial and surname if I sell azam.com

I have already marketed the brand heavily and the domain pulls in a few hundreds visitors a week. I use azam.com as my username in forums, for my email address, business name, bank account etc. So I'm reluctant to sell. But $73,000 is a heck of a lot of money for me.

What should I do?

Also, is there a high quality valuation service out there that anybody would recommend please?

Thank you.

£40k will get you a bunch of quality co.uk generics in whatever your chosen field is. Do you need the global presence of a .com? If not I'd sell at that price.

I've never seen a valuation service worth using, check out dnjournal.com for previous .com sales... thats the best indicator in my opinion. Be aware that type in traffic plays a big part in the higher priced sales.

Forget mini portal or whatsoever. That is a once in a life time offer for that name. Sell it.

A high starting bid and a zero feedback seller - might put a few people off. Best of luck with the auction though Azam.biz.

Sorry to buck the trend... but i would say keep it... if you can afford to?
Nothing will replace it and if you can market it to its potential, then DO!

Good luck!

Congrats Nadeem, Buyer must be some millionere Arab with oil factory/ies and definately you can pull more for that name i mean if i am millionere and my own name dot com fancy me i would not hesitate spending big bucks for my name dot com. You might not be able to find BIG potential customer like that again if you decline him.As wwwdomain said give it proper media coverage and get it sold, you would earn a goodwill and name which might end up getting you more customers and definately you can spend that decent sum of money on buying more generics and sell them each for $70k or more after next few years or invest in your business which ever you prefer. But apart from all that just think for few moments that would you be HAPPY after giving away that domain or you would be UNHAPPY after declining that offer ? hope you get the point and best of luck
