If the domains desirable in the first place you could say the next best thing is the .net.
Although for a lot of countries there own cctld would be more so e.g. .co.uk .de .fr .us etc.

With development you run the risk of the .com stealing all your traffic and advertiser would go for the .com all day long….

Try more single generic word or terms try and keep it less than 12 long. ideally 6 - 8. Look for more specialist, niche markets or even local dialect variations of commonly used products, services etc especially new domains…

There are new items, products etc coming on to the market every day keep an eye on market movements, product trends, news, environmental issues, current affairs etc...

Also think about who you could sell it to before you reg it if you cannot think of someone chances are there is no one..?

Hi NameaLot and other experts here,

Sorry if I'm interrupting in someone's thread but This questions related to the thread.

Is that also happening/gets the same impact [to .net/org/etc] even if It has high google exact searches [let say, over 100k/month?] and how about the hypenathed names [.co.uk]? is It worth to keep or not? coz I have just registered some 50k-100k exacts/month but with the hypens between the keywords [Iknow It will kills It's values, but I'm not concerning to the values for now, and what I'm looking for is to gain traffics + revenues first. Then values will follow. as per SEO things I've learned "hypens" wouldn't impact to Their ranks and indexes, will It impact to their traffics??]

    Thanx for Your attention

If your talking about people visiting through search engine result little or no difference as most people wouldn’t know the name of the site they just click on results on the first page of google maybe the second but most would'nt go to the third page ?… Direct type in would be affected as would certain types of advertising e.g. Radio many people don’t know what a hyphen is…?

Concur, for the same reason Rocket is getting no interest in his DomainMall name, american terms generally have little value here in the UK. (However as this is a UK forum I doubt we're best placed to value an amercian term on a non-uk domain.)

Agreed with Hari, coz american terms were usually influenced by Afro american language and other slangs, so It's not popular english in UK as UK using british-english. It's just like spanish words in spain to be compared with spanish in US even tho' They use the same spanish language. coz They live and blend with other race and languages in Their neighbourhood so They made up new words. I called It a modified language.

But newbies like Me and others will always improve our knowledge about uk markets and what UK market needs. Thank for advise from all experts :)
