I cant see how they will be a fad with LG, Samsung, Panasonic and Sont pushing the technology and investing that much money into it, but we shall seee I guess.. I actually am looking to sell but only to end-users with deep pockets, just curious what other people thought, thats all...I certainly would sell most of them to domainers. I do have price in mind for 3DChannel but its higher than 10K and I believe this is possible, and they wouldn't budg from 7.5K and they werent hiding their identity so I know who they and they can certainly afford what I was asking. I will hold it until there are a lot more 3D Channels out. Quote:

If you did it because you "felt solt sorry for me" you are right, you probably shouldn't have bothered, it reflects that in your appraisal...only do it if you really want buddy lol Thanks Aaron Cliford, I always take advice, but I was just hoping for some research before saying "nothing" to every name when most people can see some are not worth "nothing"...just look at some of the appraisals from other well known domain forums. If most people really think the names are rubbish, thats fine, I think I will stick to to places where .co.uk is not the main extension discussed, I just thought I waould give it a try Anyway, thanks anyway people Good luck to you all

Just to point out if your other appraisals came from Estibot or Digital point then they count for nothing especially on DP. Good luck ps. when I said I felt sorry for you I meant because you were being fobbed off for not having UK extensions. I was a regular on appraisals but have quietened down so not appraising every doamin posted but chose to help you ( or try to )

Thanks for trying anyway Doodlebug As I mentioned, appraisals were from ******* and namepros, the 2 most reputable forums. I am member at DP so it could be on there as well. ok, I wont be posting any non-UK names in future.. Good luck to you in the future as well Last edited by gilescoley; 01-09-2010 at 06:14:17 AM. |

Hi giescoley - If I may add my thoughts. I'm on this site for an hour or two most days, so I did read your request at the time of first posting - I have to agree that I also believe your domain '3dchannel.com' to be one with the most potential of an interest from an end-user. The fact is that for the major Satellite and Cable providers their will indeed be a '3d channel' and of course this will be sold at a premium to subscibers, So as a reference/talking point the wording " The 3d channel" holds good as a term really as good as say the " the film channel" or "the sports channel" So not difficult to see you getting quite a bit of interest in this one. Personally I do think an offer of high $x,xxx is an acceptable one, Indeed I reckon it to be quite generous, I don't doubt for a minute the asking party is indeed a major player but, its also likely that they are of the belief that their offer is a genrous one. Only you know the negotiation history. I am going to throw in a couple of negative thoughts. You may be be over awed by the asking party being identified (i know that may be because you have dug into the source- If so well done) But, I would ask yourself whether you would be happy with say $10k and then the further question of is it worth loosing the sale for the sake of $2K. The second negative is - I'm also a regular visitor on DNF - even before the splt many years ago with Domainstate and I do note there is a lot of 'back slapping' valuations that go on , particularly regarding the literally hundreds of 3D domains that get posted there for comment/sale, and many in my opinion don't cut it at all - that said i don't think those negatives apply to your domain "3d Channel" for all the right reasons you won't find much of that here at "Acorn domains" Bare in mind we focus on UK usage more than just UK domains. regards from the seller of 3dtv.co.uk PS I note "the3dchannel.com" has been held since 2004

Bailey, firstly..congrats on the sale of 3DTV.co.uk, very nice sale indeed! Thanks for the nice post, you have made some good points. I received the offer from someone who identified herself so from the the word go, I knew what company she worked for. She made me an offer of very low x,xxx, I countered with my price and she came back to me later with a mid x,xxx offer. We negotiated with a couple of emails and we got up to high x,xxx, she then stated she had a certain budget and wasnt prepared to move on that, which I understand totally from a business perspective. I am willing to hold onto the name until I get my price, or at least close to my price, and I really believe I will, if not now, then maybe in 3 or 4 years time when 3D is more mainstream and in our everyday lives. If the price was 2K less than my asking price, I certainly would have taken the money and invested elsewhere, but it wasn't. You have to remember this is the birth of 3D and with all the 3D products just coming out, this will only get bigger. I get google alerts on 3D products and as you may know, there are new articles every day on different products from different companies being developed. I totally understand the people who say 3D is just a fad and will be gone in a year or two, I have invested in many domains that I thought would be the next "BIG" thing and some have paid off and other haven't, thats the joys of domaining. This is just one of the things I think is good bet... I totally agree with you on the quality of 3D names being regged at DNF and numerous other forums, and I certainly try and explain to less experienced domainers to slow down on hunting for crappy hand regged domains and rather chase decent names on the aftermarket. There are people regging 20 names relating to say "3D LED TV" and they think they are going to sell them all. I have suggested they rather diversify their portfolio, its a much safer bet, some listen and sone dont...lol There are some real bargains out there, especially from people who regged 3D names a few years ago and then lost interest in 3D or even domaining in general. Thats how I grabbed 3DChannel, I bought it for less than $200. BTW, the only .co.uk I have are AsianWh**e (adult) and CheapTea.co.uk, not sure if they are worth anything?? and a couple of 3D names I think!! Anyway, enough rambling from me, thanks again Bailey, I am seriously open to cristism from everyone. Thanks all

I dont really see much value in them other than the below names. I remember when high definition was the next big thing and we had highdefinition//co//uk marketed it to the big boys and none was really interested past a few grand as they tent to go with the brand rather than generic. Quote:

Some good names, channel is obviously the best. Player + Recorder are non starters in my mind so sell them the next good offer you get. Reason: There will never be such a thing as a 3d player or 3d recorder. This is because the '3d video' is just information and requires storage, like bluray or dvd. The players will be normal players, just whats being played will be different. There might be something like '3d compatible bluray player' because it might have a unique file format. However thats unlikely! |
