Not my area of expertise to be honest but I would have thought much more than £40, even at reseller level.

Probably somewhere in the software field would be the most valuable use...

e.g.

Alternatively, would make a good name for high security flash drives, external hard drives, etc.

£300 +/- reseller. Perhaps 1.5k – 2k end user.

I would agree if .com but as DP is associated with the DPA, it somewhat borders on a little confusion.. while it is descriptive if it went to DomainLore I would guess it may reach £160 but end up gathering dust again on some domainers portfolio as it has been for the last X years or so.

If I were to sell as a domain then I would be seeking offers at £50, but let it go for £40

I did, but they never used the domain as a site for over a decade. I research around 500 domains a day to speculate for development which involves a historic check of the domain to ascertain the possibility of traffic, which is a key process in deciding to go for a domain and if so the start time of development to maximise exposure.

Parked domains whether from Seasoned Domainers or End Users tend to have a lower resale value.

Dont get me wrong the domain has potential, there is no doubt of that.. but lets face it the chances are it will indeed stay in a portfolio gathering dust. Of course someone could come along and offer 100k tomorrow, albeit unlikely I have to base it on personal experience, knowledge and what would I pay for it weighted against the investment required to turn it into a product worthy of a higher resale value.

I do stand by my appraisal, which is 100% based on perceived value today in the hands of a domainer and were I not to develop, I would be more than happy flipping for 800% cost

SAI obviously ain't domainers. It was never listed for sale and most potential buyers would be put off even enquiring when they saw who the owners were.

To expand on previous post...

Was owned and used by Easy I LTD (used by them for many years, registered to them until the day it dropped). Looks like they got bought out by SAI at some stage but for whatever reason didn't do the Nom transfer. SAI, big company, established brand, probably didn't get/need the value of generic/descriptive domains – so it languished with them for a few years before ultimately dropping.
