Question Internet World 09 Meetup Plan

Hi All,

I'll be stopping by Internet World at Earls Court on the 29th April (probably in the afternoon) and thought it would be nice to arrange a meet up and to have a poll of who's planning on going.

I know Edwin's made a similar thread about being an exhibitor but I also had another geeky idea.

I might be the only AD nerd, but you know how they give out the exhibitor badges with a lanyard when you arrive? Well I've made it easy for you to create an Acorn member card to print off and insert into the back of the exhibitor pass that they give you. Then hopefully you can walk around showing the back of the badge (showing an acorn logo) and bump into other AD members who may recognise you by your username !

Maybe even meet up at Edwin's Memorable Domains stand (E5009).

Well here's what my badge looks like (basic I know):

And here's where you can type in your username and have a script create the AD badge (for you to print off and cut out):

Internet World & Acorn Domains Badge | UK domain names and UK websites for sale | dotting.co.uk

Ok this is all a bit nerdy, but I had to do something to stop me from playing poker tonight!

Please vote in the poll to say whether you're going to the expo. Wed 29th April (afternoon) is the only day that I can make it and would be nice to put faces to usernames so I hope some of you can go that day - but the event is also running 28th - 30th.

Sounds fun, but from a practical point of view (based on my experience last year) more than about 10 people at once and the stand's PACKED! Not that I want to put anyone off saying "hi" at the stand, but you'll need to stagger things a bit...

Yes, Ron James (coming o'er from the US) and I are gonna be there for the show. Really looking forward to it. Looking forward also to sinking a few beers with some fellow domainers.

I may even buy a round..

Definitely Edwin. I just thought that this plan was a way of starting to get something planned. If there's a lot of interest we could arrange something else but I think most likely if it happens just a handful will be there.

I was thinking of bringing some sandwiches and a rug! Just kidding. Will just say hi...

I didn't use to be a geek - not sure when it happened!

I've just been reading about Ron Jones. I'm coming over from The US too. am flying back later that evening - wouldn't mind some British ale. Been ages since I've had a proper pint!

Sorry, re-reading what I wrote, I hope it didn't sound in any way unwelcoming! I love to meet Acorners, especially since it's about the only chance I have to put names to faces (and if you met me last year, take pity on me and introduce yourself all over again - between the domainers I met at the show, the folks I met in My Old Dutch, and the regular show-goers I met over the 3 days, I must have easily talked to 500 people!)
