Is the plural of a trademarked name automatically trademarked? I have found a name that is available and I want to use it as a traffic driver for a project I have planned, but the singular is trademarked. The trademark is for a peice of equipement/service that this company has designed/built (not the actual companies name) the site I am planning on building would be a site that gives information on this product/service + other simillar services (not competing with the company.) I want to know if it is safe to register the name???? Cheers.

Yes mate they are protected as are typos. However different classes of trade raise those questions about whether it affects your cases, but that's a different question I guess.

As long is it's confusingly similar to the original trademark then you cannot use it i'm afraid.

Thanks for your replies. So you are saying that even if I was not using the name as my site name but just using it to forward to another site it would still be a breach of TM, just by owning it? Ta.

denchomsky, I say you should go with it and buy that domain. Redirect it to your site. As I see things there shouldn't be a problem (from how you presented the facts) and even if there were any problems I think you could get a good deal for the domain. They won't forcefully take it.
