Bug Paperwork - A Far From Eco Friendly System

For a business that surrounds the internet and very little paper based product if any at all, it seems odd that I've probably just sent a couple of trees to Nominet as exhibits and statement relating to this DRS.

Don't all parties have access to a computer and the net? It aint half silly. All these trees would have been saved and a page full of referenced links and images and screen grabs online would have done the trick just as good and been far more eco friendly.

Let's hope some of you nominet members put a stop to this wastage. An original and three copies of every document... it's a joke.

Cheers
Lee

Let's hope that the expert (et al) have fun reading through all your exhibits!

Good luck with the case - I trust you'll let us know how things progress, so far as the confidentiality permits...

It's mostly pictorial rather than evidenced literature. So whilst the weight is great it is required to show the abusive registration claims are unfounded and that unregistered trademark cannot be claimed on the characters nor the characters and the extension they hold in relation to the characters and extension in my possession and of course to argue every other single claim.

I would presume it's the responsibility of the expert to ackowledge and take into account each exhibit. And yes win or lose or confidential agreement I will state where this ended up, although particulars may become privy. I still can't believe the amount of paper.

Oh and thanks for the good luck - still got legal head on.

I've probably wasted my time anyway, I sent the early response back by normal email but looking at their site again it seems to be laid out in a certain way containing certain other words? Did I have to do that? I just wrote my own 2o00 words with name, contact details, domain and DRS number on.

If they wanted me to use a form why didn't they include it in the pack?

I can only hope they accept what I sent. I've found the link to the ready made response, filled that out with what I sent before the deadline and the print out page is four pages long, the buggering printer now will only print out pages 1 and 4 and not 2 and 3 on the fourth copy, gawd knows why.

How many copies of each document do I need to send? four in total or just three and no original? As I understand it I had until midnight last night to get the electronic copy sent in, I did that but didnt realise I had to have this other form.

Well I've just finished seperating all the print outs and catagorising them into three nice piles of thirteen folders all decorated with post it notes for easy guidance - colour coded as well - it's amazing what you have lying about the house from a viking order seven years ago, I don't suppose they'll return the folders will they? haha or replace my printer cartridge

All this and the complainant paid bugger all to make me do all this work? it isn't right you know! Anyway as the deadline was midnight last night I presume I have until the 3pm post to get it despatched so I'm early or at least I hope I am. Now I just need clarification that the hiccup with proper electronic forms last night isn't a problem.

I'm now taking that when they say three copies, they mean three for them and the fourth, the original, which I can keep? If not they'll have to do some photo copying when it arrives. Or should I have just sent them four copies and they do the collating? don't be silly Lee.

The expert will certainly tell the difference between the complainant and the respondent when greeted with a shiny white well presented folder and my 13 cardboardy recycled folders with post it notes and elastic bands haha but I have been rather eloquent and articulate if I do say so myself.

Hopefully by 10am I'll be back in bed. It's 10am and all's well...

Make sure you get the statement of truth etc. attached to your response or the expert will treat it with suspicion. if in doubt give them a ring in the legal department.

As to why things have to be in writing for a system run by the domain name registrar - well it's a very good question. I assume their online software is not up to the task. Other than a signed statement of truth - which could even be electroncially signed - I can't see a good reason.
