Angry how can it happen? stolen domain

hi, thanks to everyone who certainly know more than i do, i would like your advice on something that happened to me
i went on the net and saw that a domain that i like was available, so i done all the usual registration and i believe had to conferm my email in order to get to the shopping basket, anyway something happened, this was like the 22nd or 23 December 2010, when i tried to get in to pay for it it kept coming up with invalid, so over the xmas period i left it thinking i will get in touch after the festive season, i did , after trying to log in a million times i decided to do another search (one i did not really want) this time i managed to get into the cp thenew domain was there , but the previous one was not there , so i done a whois, and it came back that it had been sold on the 24th december 2010, it was sold by the same company that i had registered with, and only 1 or 2 days after i could not access them, i tried to get in touch with them but only auomated messages, the thing is this that when i put in the second domain name in and got to the cp all the other info was faked, but when it shows up as to the name and address its all correct, same as i had put in the first time round...........!!! ??? help please

If you didn't actually register and pay for the domain name then it was never yours. Someone else registered it, and you'll have a very difficult time proving that their registration was related to your original attempt at a registration. If you feel aggrieved or that you have lost something, consult an appropriate member of the legal profession. Nobody here can do anything.

Now come on guys - this is serious.

Seems to me that there is a basket case, sorry basket thief on the loose. Do you know I was in the Co-op the other day when I picked up one of those 'on expiration date' bargains.

sliced ham down from £3 to 75p - well that went straight in my basket and I headed for the check-out. Via the drinks and booze aisle obviously. well blow me down, at the checkout - there was no sign of the ham - I'd only put my basket down for a millionth of a second or something like that.

I reckon its the same guy that done francosi over

Domain Trader Rating:
(100% / 106)
I don't know why everyone is taking the piss out of this new member asking for help, it does happen that registrars register domains that you have entered in to their sites, Network Solutions were notorious for it, not sure if they still practice this or not now? Found this item from 2008:

Quote:
As of some time last month, it appears the domain registrar Network Solutions is automatically registering all available ‘.com’ domain names searched for through their website but not purchased. They claim it is to protect from ‘domain frontrunning’ but actually looks like a blatant case of domain frontrunning by themselves.

If you are unfamiliar with the processes involved in registering a domain name, here is a simplified version of what happens:

1. Check to see if your preferred domain name is available through a ‘whois’ search

2. If it’s available it can be registered through a registrar (such as 123-reg, or network solutions – prices vary between different providers)

3. If you decide to register your chosen domain name, you simply need to pay for it through the registrar and the domain name is yours, usually for 1 year.

Now what Network Solutions are doing is grabbing the search at the first stage, and automatically holding it for a default 5 day grace period, in which time the domain will show as unavailable through any registrar apart from Network Solutions.

They claim this is to stop the practice of ‘domain frontrunning’ – where some unethical types get hold of potential domain names people have searched for and then registering them, forcing the person who made the search to buy the domain from them at a usually extortionate rate if they really want it. However, Network Solution’s process of temporarily registering these domain names similarly forces users to buy the domain from them at their inflated prices – a very similar situation.

The reason I say they are forced to buy the domain is that once the domain is initially held, it is automatically added to the world DNS list, alerting all domain frontrunners of its existence.

There has been a fair bit of coverage of this on various blogs and forums, and their collective voice is getting louder. In the last 24 hours Network Solutions have announced they will now only hold domains searched from their homepage, and those held will only display an ‘under construction’ message instead of their previous message announcing this domain was available to register to anyone.

However this still hasn’t gone down all too well, as there is no official notification of this set up on the Network Solutions website causing a lot of confusion for your average web user wanting simply wanting to find out if the nifty little domain name they thought of was available.

Personally, I won’t be using Network Solutions for my domain lookups from now on. This way I can be sure they won’t be grabbing any potentially lucrative domain names from me. The problem is if Network Solutions go ahead and carry this through to a permanent move, how long will it be until other registrars follow suit?

As mentioned, there is a growing negative backlash to this whole situation, so hopefully Network Solutions realise the error of their ways and revert to their normal service, sooner rather than later.

What extension of domain was this? If it was a .co.uk, I would say in future you must check via the WHOIS at Nominet.org.uk that the domain has been registered to you.

Now come-on, A little bit of good natured humour, should be tolerated.

Look at the vagueness of the original post. that isn't a language problem - thats someone who's lost the plot to the registration process.

Stolen domain !!! - my arse
