If it wasn't for the 'old school nom-steer' (as in Nominet steering committee) there wouldn't be a Nominet per se. Nominet was founded on ISP support back in 1996 after a much flawed 'naming committee' scheme. As for old-school PAB, there is no such thing. The elected element of the PAB changes every 12 months with the election of 4 new members. If one or other of those 4 is an existing member who gets re-elected, that's democracy at work. Appointed PAB members change periodically too when people move out or up; so where's the
old school?
