If it wasn't for the 'old school nom-steer' (as in Nominet steering committee) there wouldn't be a Nominet per se. Nominet was founded on ISP support back in 1996 after a much flawed 'naming committee' scheme. As for old-school PAB, there is no such thing. The elected element of the PAB changes every 12 months with the election of 4 new members. If one or other of those 4 is an existing member who gets re-elected, that's democracy at work. Appointed PAB members change periodically too when people move out or up; so where's the old school?

That's democracy at work too. Sometimes you get the consensus, sometimes you don't; but don't let the prospect of failure deter you from a cause you believe to be just.

I never said you should leave it to the powers that be; God forbid; I suggested you could be a tad more objective in your comments.

So Hazel it's ok for you to do sites like www.notnominet.org.uk when you disagree with something......

When we make posts about Nominet policy on here we get called "Trolls".

Hazel could have been referring to me but she knows enough to know I don't attach much importance to what people think of me personally; water and duck's back apply. What is of paramount importance to me, is that one is considerate of all viewpoints whether we agree with them or not; and what is equally important is that one does not apply a set of principles to someone or something else that they would not be prepared to accept for themselves. You can't demand honour and integrity of someone or something else if you are not prepared to wear your own on your sleeve and this encompasses the principle of consideration, which is a two-way street.

It's fine to disagree, it's not fine IMO to denigrate or libel or (in grandin's case) call people liars just because you think you can.

Sorry. I clearly wasn't clear. My 'troll' comment was not aimed at the majority of posters to this forum who raise points that should be addressed. It was aimed at the minority who raise the same (or very similar) point over and over again in umpteen different threads.
