123-Reg noddy question

Hi

One of my customers registered 2 domain names (.com and .co.uk) through a web designer a year or so ago. The web designer registered them in the customer's name (good!) and did everything through 123 Reg.

The web designer has since stopped trading (no wonder, the website was shit!) and the websites have stopped working.

If you visit the websites you are taken to the 123 Reg home page.

Am I right in thinking that I can open a 123 Reg account and ask the web designer dude to transfer the management of the domains to my 123 Reg account in order to manage them for my customer?

I had a look at the transfer in section of the control panel but this only really seems to deal with transfers from external tags.

Sorry it's such a noddy question but I've never used 123 Reg.

Cheers

Yes, it's called an internal transfer (although I've only ever done it for .co.uk domains). Just setup a new account and get the web designer guy to transfer them to you, then you will have full control of them.

you'll have to unlock the .com (an option in the control panel)
then push the domain to another 123reg account.

You'll then have to accept the domain in your new account
