Hi

Heart Internet I believe have some bulk tools - although I have not tried them. As for pricing the Registrars all have the same problem which is they are charged £ 5.00 by Nominet per domain for a two year registration (this is not discountable) - so they actually make very little and considering they have to pay the credit charge levy, then most registrars must be loosing money on selling domains at this price.

You can setup a free acount with both and work out which is best for you, you can also transfer UK names between these two registrars free of charge, when you worked out which one to run with. I actually prefer to keep an account running with both, so that in the event of any problems I have somewhere else to go for that 'impulse buy' !

Do you need to be a UK resident, have a UK address to use them?

Hi

Don't believe you need to be a UK resident, if you are outside the European Community - you might be able to get away without paying 17.5% VAT. I think that is why they ask for your country of residence on the registration page at 123Reg.

Best Regards

Thanks Grant, but why are US registrars no good? Like moniker, namecheap, or even godaddy?
I tried 123 and heartinternet now, but they don't accept my credit card
I called 123 today to verify the CC, but their office is closed. I'll call them tomorrow to see whats the problem.

As an example, one .uk domain I had with a US registrar was one day into being suspended, I went to the site to renew it and they wanted $150 to renew it claiming that it cost them extra to renew a suspended .uk domain, in reality it is the exact same cost/process as renewing a non-suspended domain.

Also, a lot of of them dont understand how/what TAG changes are or their systems dont handle them automatically so you can end up struggling to move domains to another registrar if you want to.

I'm not saying they're all crap but in my experience you are much better off using a uk registrar.

I tried to reg 3 domains with 123-reg earlier this week. 48 hrs later, nothing. Went to 1 and 1 - all .uks are free first years reg until the end of the month and then £2.99 pa after that.
