1and1 what do you think?

So I've run my scripts for a while, checked a lot of lists and now come up with a list of about 100 .uk domains I'd like to register asap.

It seems like 1and1 has the lowest registration costs, about twice lower than the rest. I've tried to register a domain there yesterday, but still didn't get the confirmation email. I emailed them and they replied that they are confirming it

So is 1and1 a good one to go with and do they have some kind of bulk tools? Entering 100 domains one by one would be a pain

I've thought of purchasing a tag from nominet and will probably do it later, but 1and1's prices look very tempting

So what do you think? Do you use 1and1?

Thanks!

1and1 are a pile of shite.

Their website is stupidly complicated and their support is non existant.

thanks... ok that doesn't sound good
Is it that bad?

The next cheapest I've found is for $13.90 per domain for 2 years at monikoer and about the same at some other companies. That's about twice of 1and1.

What else can you recommend?

thanks

ukreg.com are fine, heartinternet are supposed to be good.

Don't go for cheap prices over service and NEVER use a US registrar to register .uk domains, they usually have no idea of how they work!

Well when you buy domains in rather large quantities price really matters

What about 123-reg?, are they good?

btw, what's nominet's price per domain after you acquire a tag and everything?

Indeed, but you're much better off spending a bit extra to ensure theyre somewhere decent.

123-reg had real problems a while ago but seem to have got things sorted now so they also may be a good option.

Domains are £5 + vat for Nominet members I think, no point joining really unless you're going to be dropcatching.

paulc is on a distinguished road

I don't mind 123-reg, but from experience would stay well clear of 1and1.

The all have seem to have faults..

I use 123 and have never had any problems.

1&1 on the other hand... wouldn't touch them with a barge pole and told them I would jump at the chance to say so after the treatment I received.

I tried to buy a domain with them once when 123 was down and hours later it was still available. So I bought it with 123 (then back up) and a long time later 1&1 wrote back to say the purchase failed because the domain wasn't free (you don't say...).

The really annoying thing is they refused to delete my account and kept sending me emails! Even when they said it was deleted I could still log in. The completely refused to accept my right to remove my account from their site.

Stay well clear!

Hi

1and1 use to be the cheapest place to buy domains - they sold them at a loss ! however they have recently jacked up their prices. They are also very slow to register a name (takes hours) same for Nameserver changes. Also watch out if your name is due to get suspended, they sneakily change the nameservers on you 14 days after your renewal is due to SedoParking and take the next 16 days worth of traffic on PPC into their coffers before Nominet suspend the name.

I now use both Heart Internet & 123 Reg - never really had any issues other than 123 sometime goes down & their web forwarding is unreliable.

Best Regards

thanks a lot!

Looks like 123 and heartinternet are at 2.59 GBP
Do you think they could give me any bulk pricing if I buy more than 100 domains?

123 don't have any bulk tools
