Fasthosts rip off loyalty ?

Maybe the rent's just gone up in Gloucester?

.co.uk :

New registrations = £2.95pa
Renewals = £3.45pa

£1 difference each time you renew... so that's a cool £1m added the director's divi's then

.com :

New registrations = £9.49pa
Renewals = £10.49pa

£1 difference each year!!!

Now maybe I have read that wrong - but looks like they want to rip you off - once you're on their systems - just for being loyal!

It's not like they have the best systems either :

i. Often slow
ii. Can't always transfer domains in
iii. No bulk update tools when you move more than one domain to them
etc etc

This kind of thing really p1sses me off. Unless of course they are going to use ALL the money to reinvest in their system....

...hence why there's absolutely no point in using them!

info is good, just shows how bad they are

Does seem standard practise in many companies though.

The number of times I rang Virgin customer support when they sent me yet another personally addressed letter suggesting I join them and get cheap broadband and asked if I could have my billing reduced to that rate then being told to "get lost", so I did! (noticed the other day that BT are installing the fibre cabinet at the top of our road so should get good FTTC speeds though )

I recieved an email from them to, but within a few hours another email and even a phonecall from their accounts dept saying that the email was not intended for their premier resellers, which is a nice way of saying sorry, but should (I think) apply to everyone who currently uses them.

I too was taken aback by the increase especially as I have over 1400 names with them.

If you're with them, fire an email to them to check or give them a call. I've been with them since 1999 and yes they have had their problems but who hasn't????

the thing that does piss me off is that when domains go into expiry, they change the nameservers to domcollect, then when you renew them they dont change them back!!!

I squeeze as much time out of the registration as possible (like a lot of you I'm sure) but i dont see why they allow them to 'taste' any traffic. and if you try to change the nameservers back before you renew, you cant as its locked!!!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
