Who charges most to transfer out?

I'm not happy with my present registrar and am looking to move my my few (all working site) domains away. His site doesn't mention any "Transfer Out" charge (they say "Transfer In" is free - of course) so can he dream up any figure he likes to charge me?
Before I move, I want to know who will charge least to Transfer Out should I find *him* give as poor service as my present guy. Anyone know which registrar is cheapest when transferring away?

123-reg don't charge either way. If you get charged more than �15+VAT per domain to change the IPSTAG, nominet will do it for you at that price, or �30+VAT for a bulk lot (2 or more).

Hi chaps,
it's free if transferring from one 123 account to another. Not sure about transferring in from elsewhere. would be good to know as buying one on sedo at mo & need to transfer in. keep us posted.... if 123 ever get back!

Jee,
will nominet only do that if your current bods charge over 15 + vat.? i have loads with uk2 & although cheap to reg & good tools, free push etc. their banners & hosting is wa*nk & been thinking of swapping them all. they charge 12+ vat approx & buggered if i'm paying that.

Regardless of where they are or how much your registrar charges you, Nominet can make the changes for you (as long as .uk). So if UK2 wants �12 +vat with no discount on bulk transfers then you'd be better off letting Nominet do the changes.
