I use email to sell domains, as do a lot of other domainers.

I class spam as the thousands of emails a week I get selling me penis enhancements. A carefully worded email informing you of a domain sale within the area you do business I would not class as spam and definitely not a "Domain Name Scam"

I got a few when I was at an old company, and to be honest I was glad I was in the loop. It A) informed me that we were being picked up in Google for the industry we were in, and B) that we got in on some deals our rivals didn't.

To put a positive spin on it!

Have a nice weekend!!

Firstly please note I am not in any way suggesting your emails were or were not spam covered by the law (I have no idea if they were or not) but wanted to highlight in answer to the above that the jurisdiction that matters (at least in the Scottish legal system) is that of the recipient, not of the sender.

Of course it is somewhat tricky to enforce a decree unless there are assets within the jurisdiction of the courts.

I'm not really bothered by legal definitions or jurisdiction of spam. More the dictionary definition, which the mail blatantly is. If the email was done properly I wouldn't have given it 2 thoughts and deleted it straight away.

The domain isn't relevant to my business, my person or any members of NWLUG, but I don't really mind that either (as above I would have just deleted it).

The thing that annoyed everyone the most is the reckless way the email was sent.
