Got this one yesterday, ISP being reported to:

From: "Chris Holland" (address removed)
To: (roughly 150 email addresses removed, what an idiot!)

Dear Sirs,

We are selling the domain name RentaProjector.co.uk. This is the very first
time since 1996 that the domain has ever been available on the open market.

Most of our clients are now finding that prime domains such as this pay for
themselves within weeks rather than months by virtue of the extra business
that they drive to their websites by means of type in traffic and greatly
enhanced search engine positions.

The domain is currently on sale for just �795 + VAT.

Would you like to go ahead with this?

We also have scanners.co.uk, printers.co.uk and faxes.co.uk for sale.

spam (spām) noun. Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

It was unsolicited, commercial and looks like you used a list based on the NWLUG or Menai LUG mailing lists (I left both about 6 months ago when I left Wales). Most people on that to: list are individuals. Looks like spam to me by definition.

I have reported it to theplanet.com's abuse address.

Certainly the long list of CC's is silly but as much as it might annoy you, email sent B2B is not covered by UK spam law. As you are a company, I don't see on what basis you are reporting it. If anyone else who did receive it is an individual then it is up to them to report it.

If it was via a Linux User Group mailing list I would say that is not business to business.

Well firstly, you sent it to one of my personal addresses as well as my business one, secondly since I used to be admin of that LUG I think I am well within my right to protect its users and I will urge them to report it too.

I have no connection with Chris Holland - other than buying a domain off him once - and I do not send spam.

I wasn't defending his actions I was trying to help you by explaining that B2B emails are not spam. Your first post gave no indication that it was sent to you on any other basis than B2B. Your signature shows that you operate a business. I simply pointed out that if you had received it as a business then he is not breaking UK spam laws.

I have reported your post to the admin and await a full apology from you for alleging I sent you spam. Failing this I will take further action.
