Just a crafty way of getting a decent domain...

I remember when someone formed a LTD company in the UK "€ Music Ltd." just so they could register the domain Music.ltd.uk - yep they had a Euro in the start of their name. If characters in the company name aren't allowed in the domain, then they are simply left out...

Other examples are c.o.m ltd to get Com.ltd.uk
@ DVD Ltd to get dvd.ltd.uk

Don't see much value in these names though, as you'd have to transfer company ownership to the domain owner if you sold it, and how many people type in .ltd.uk ???

Im sorry but you are wrong on that. Once they have the .eu domain they can sell it on seperately from the company if they wish to. The "mistake" that eurid made was not making a rule that only those with trademarks at the time of announcing the registry OR the oldest TM take precedence over the newer ones that way stymying the people who are only after the domains.
