| Junior Member | Part 3 Here is a heads up for an appraisal scam. Somebody e-mailed me that they were interested in one of my domains. I replied with a price, and here was his reply. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for the response! Do you sell a developed site or just domain name? If you have a developed site please send us traffic statistics. If you don't have a site it's not a problem. We are mostly interested in domain names without content. We need an appraisal for domain priced in your range. In other words we need some kind of proof that your price is reasonable. Our partners (webmasters and domain owners) always recommend us to verify an independent appraisal first. It would be fair for both of us. Please note that we don't trust free or cheap appraisals. We were burned after accepting such appraisals in the past. So we cannot accept appraisal from each and every site. Appraisal from www.Sedo.com is not acceptable because your name is listed with them and they are not independent in our case. I asked about reputable appraisal companies in a well-known webmaster forum http://www.webmasterforum.com/showthread.php?t=53837 My nickname there is JMARTIN. Hope webmasters will recommend us appraisal companies with good reputation. After we verify an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations. How do you prefer to get paid: www.PayPal.com, www.escrow.com, check or wire? Looking forward to your reply. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AllForDomain.com New Tactic That is one person call John Martin said want to buy my domain. And John ask for appraisal of the domain. And I must get the certificate from AllForDomain.com. This guy indirectly point me to get the appraisal certificate from AllForDomain.com Ask you to register. For USD60 Please be careful when someone ask you only accept certificate from AllForDomain.com ================================================== =================================== If you read the thread he linked to for an appraisal, all the posters have just registered, and only reply to that thread. The responses are carefully crafted to look non-biased, but really, they eliminate all choices but allfordomains.com. I found this thread which shines some light on allfordomains.com, and their business practices. Esentially, I think they are sending out fake offers, to get appraisals done, as mentioned in the above thread. The thread he originally referred me to has now been "fixed" ================================================== =================================== hank you for the response! Did you get offers from other people? I need to know your desired price. Please don't ask to make an offer. Just email the desired price. I run a software company. We develop client-server systems and databases in Oracle for a local company. Buying and selling domain names is not my main business. Just another way to invest money and make additional income. I wish you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Best regards, Frank Moss Ph.D. President BO Software Systems ------------------------------------------------------------ Original Message [EMAIL TWO] From: "Moss" <fmoss@bonbon.net> To: Sent: Friday, December 30, 2005 12:15 AM Subject: Re: ( sent 12/29/05) 5,000 USD. Ok. Can you provide me with independent valuation (appraisal)? I need such valuation for name priced in your range. I consider your name as an investment. In other words I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain. Of course, we must be sure that you are engaging a reputable appraisal company. I heard many appraisal companies often made inaccurate appraisals. I will only accept appraisals from independent appraisal companies I know and trust. To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in a forum http://domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/49057.htm Juck check this posting. If the appraisal comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. After I get an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations. How do you prefer to get paid: www.PayPal.com, www.escrow.com, check or wire? Hope we can come to an agreement fast. |
