UK to US registrar?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I'm curious - if a person wanted to transfer a domain from a UK registrar (e.g UKReg) to another person with a US registrar (e.g NameCheap), would the receiving person be able to then edit all the registrant info (free) etc. like they can if they push domains to each other in their own registrar?

I am talking about TLD domains mainly (.com etc.), but a little info on options with UK domains too would also be welcome.

This depends on if it is a .uk or a TLD (com/net/org etc.) domain.
No matter who a UK domain is with, you have to pay a transfer fee to change the registrant.

You can change WHOIS details on TLD domains at any time for no charge.

on .com domains if you change the Registrant name or Organization name you are buying another 1 year registration and a 60 day hold on transfers.
