Is it possible to reg a .com and not have your details showing like the uk opt out? I'm sure i've seen some privacy thingy?

sorry if wrong section. wasn't sure what to put it in.

Yes you can use privacy from some registrars but it often costs a little extra.

Try Directi (reseller club), you can enable privacy on their system.

thanks gents. These don't affect ownership rights I assume? no ambiguity over ownership if it came to an argument?

Once you enable Privacy Protection for your domain name, the Contact Details for your domain name in any Whois Lookup query would display generic details. If someone attempts to contact you at these details, this is how they will be greeted:

* Telephone Callers would be advised to email you at the email address displayed in the whois of your domain name.

Upon visiting the site, they would be able to mention their query in a secure form, while specifying the type of Contact (Registrant, Administrative, Technical, Billing) they wish to email. Therefore, you are assured of still being contactable, even though your Contact Details are not visible in the Whois of your domain name.
