Wrong registrant details

I was interested in a .co.uk generic domain, opted out - no address shown in the whois.

I check companies house and that LTD company does not exist.

So I email Nominet to see if they can help me and it looks like if they don't have good contact details they may be in a world of shit thanks to my email.

Quote:
We will give them thirty days to amend these details otherwise we will suspend the domain name and if in another further thirty days time the details have still not been amended the domain name will be put forward for cancellation.
So, I would appreciate any insight if anyone would be so kind, if it does not get updated and gets put forward for cancellation would the usual suspects catch it - or would nobody expect it to drop giving me a chance as it is not expiring?

I have no idea how the system works or how you all make your lists so perhaps stupidly I thought this might put me at an advantage if it were to be cancelled?, what would my best course of action be if in say 55 days time the whois has not been updated?

Hi,
there wll b e others better equipped to answer your question but my opinion is that you will be in a better position to catch it as i wouldnt have thought this name would go onto public drop lists (i may be wrong though).

If n 55 days t has not been renewed i would be inclined to book it at the usual places for catching and if its really valuable i may be inclined to setup my own catching software to get it.

I suppose it all depends on whether there will be any advanced warning to catchers that it will expire but my initial thought it that t would just be dropped quietly giving you a good chance of gettng it.

hope this helps

Rob

On another point, what is the registrar's tag? Would you be allowed to ask the registrar for assistance in contacting the present owner? They would probably have their contact details from billing details.

Checked the tag and contacted them to see if they could even pass on my details but they refused. On a happier note a member here (Programmer) managed to do some digging for me and turn up details that look like they give me a contact point.

Nominet are treating it the same as a dissolved company. They do the same if you notify of a domain being reg'd to a dissolved company.
Catchers aren't likely to have it in their lists so you would have an advantage.
