can .me.uk domains be used for commercial activity?

Nominet rules state that only individuals are allowed to be registrants for .me.uk domains.

does this mean that an individual (who is a sole trader and thus operates as a business) can operate such a domain for affiliate marketing or other commercial activities, and generate revenue out of it?

how about if a person is a director of his own limited company? can such a person register the domain name in his own name(not the company name), and continue to make money out of it, and then ascribe the revenue to his company income?

if neither of the above is allowed for me.uk, then how do people make money out of it?

yes it can be used by a limited company just make sure its registered to an indivdual.

When you come to transfer the name (if you selllit ) then it just means it has to be regerstered to an indivdual not a company...

so.. for example...

www.faggot.me.uk is currently registered to Joe Bloggs of Joe Bloggs Limited thus it is registered to an individual.

Joe Blogggs Limited then flogs domain to Mr Wang Meoff of Faggot Limited

Wang Meoff if the new refigtered owner

see http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrant...mes/sld/me.uk/

me.uk Second Level Domain

The me.uk second level domain was introduced on January 14 2002. It is the first new second level domain to be introduced since we started operating the .uk Registry in 1996.

The me.uk Second Level Domain is intended for personal use. Domain Name registrations made under .uk are expected to be made for natural persons, such as Mr John Doe registering johndoe.me.uk.

Registrations are made on a first-come, first served basis in accordance with the Rules.

so what do u think of the above?

as long as the .me.uk domain is registered to an individual I think you can do anything you want with it.

There are no restrictions at all on .org.uk

grant,

with a me.uk, who takes the profits? the individual (who has to become a sole trader), or can a limited company take the profits as well?

If you want a definitive answer you'd be better off calling Nominet, I only own 1 .me.uk domain so its not something I've ever looked into.
