I am developing a general pet related site and am still trying to obtain a domain name for it.

I have been offered several .co.uk domains for around £1000 and several .com domains for alot more. These names are all 2 word names, things like petguide.co.uk or petheads.com

I am fairly new to this domain business and really just want to get a good domain name for my site. I am not sure if I should buy a .co.uk name if I am unable to obtain the .com

I have a maximum of about £2000 to buy the domain name(s) with but would prefer not to pay so much.

I would appreciate any advice on a suitable domain name and what to consider with regards having the .co.uk and .com etc

Are you selling worldwde or will your market be primarily the UK, if so a .co.uk would be fine and define your business nicely. £1k sounds a fair price for a good descriptive domain.

I guess the general pet info could be useful to anyone worldwide but I guess I will limit alot of the content geographically to the UK (does that seem a sensible idea or is it better to aim worldwide?)

Any advice on a generic pet site name would be appreciated

How much did you pay for them?

They are not bad...

It will depend a lot on the work you put into your website. The domainnames are really ok for this reason.

Only paid reg fees for a few and most expensive one about £100.
