what is this ? A church near me uses this extension when i am pretty sure they could have had .com instead, someone shed some light please !

I think it maybe one of those companies who sell subdomains of their site. Basically they own ik.com and are selling subdomain.ik.com. It's not a proper domain extention, will not have a whois record and legally I'm not sure where you stand with "ownership" of the "domain".
