Certainly take both! If my business was UK based, I would put the site on the .co.uk and redirect the .com to the site. Mat |

It will be UK based Basically the reason i ask is because I'm thinking of starting a blog type website that will be aimed at the UK market but I suppose equally viable for the worldwide market. The .com is already taken but all the other variants are free. Do you guys think I should reg it anyway or just choose another name? |

Does the .com rank highly in search engines? If so, It may be best to change it because as you build your brand you'd be leaking search engine traffic to it. Otherwise you should be fine. Reading back to your first post, you didn't half put it a strange way to get an answer for this purpose |

Although I did want to know the answer to the first question as well, because im pretty positive on my searches i seen a few names with just the .co.uk reg'd. I know a few years back .coms where more desirable just wondered what the consensus was know? I suppose it would make sense to get the .com as well just to cover yourself for the future? The .com ranks on page 1 if you type in the name (eg.name name). Theres around 5 articles on there and its got around 450 backlinks although i have not analysed these yet. I might contact them and see if they want to sell, ill probably register the co.uk and find an alternative in the meantime. | |

Traffic leakage of .co.uk going to .com instead is very little and nothing to lose sleep over
